I am working with action script’s scrollableText. I know what
are. What I’m wondering… are there any other tags for things like bold, italics, centered, etc? I’m not stuck, but it would be nice to work on the details.

A backslash indicates an escape sequence and has nothing to do with formatting text.
You can use html with html enabled text fields to format text however.
