[LEFT]After a considerable time of development, we finally released the first beta-version of a project called “The Exhibition”. The reason behind it is to have our own little flash-lab at the agency we are working for, so we can enlarge and update it from time to time and have a place where we can show our flash-snippets and skills. So my buddies and me spent some time evolving those two rooms, with lots of AS3 experiments and a few games in it. Our intern task was to set up one room using away3D the other one by using [URL=“http://blog.papervision3d.org”]papervision3D.
In addition to “just” having two free walkable 3D-rooms, with collision detection and much more, we decided to install two different kinds of navigation behaviours. So in the red room, you navigate by using the arrow-keys on your keyboard, and in the blue room you use the joystick by dragging your mouse over it. We also added a help button, so you can refer to it every time you want to.
At least we added lots of clickable pictures and game-console´s into the rooms, so feel free to have a look at each painting and discover the AS3-experiment or game behind it. So let´s finish this post by saying we are in public beta with “The Exhibition” now. I hope we´ll find enough time in the future to expand the concept with more rooms and gadgets…
Is the arrow key movement necessary? Might be better with a myst like interface where you click to go into rooms and it move with a nice transition like when you look at the pictures.
the slime.swf failed to load once on me but worked when I refreshed the page and tried again. Also in the first place I got stuck in a wall.
sekasi - yeah of course, I thought that as soon as it loaded, even down to the wallpaper
I liked it though, and I liked the little game so I wasn’t bothered by it
Personally I like the key navigation. Maybe instead of having 2 links though, just have the one with a switch to flick between keyboard navigation and the mouse/pseudo joystick navigation.
this is pretty neat. at least as an idea of how to show off your work and such. the design is lacking in my opinion tho, it’s looking like an old wolfenstein or doom map. and that’s cool, just really dated. also, fill the room up a little more, i know this is just for experiments and stuff but it’s just so sparse.
some animations and little easter eggs to find would be nice too. you could create a whole world to uncover and discover while showing your work. good start, push it further!

You haven’t noticed that old fashioned wallpaper is a current design trend?
Well I say current, it’s been trendy for at least 2 years.
Though maybe it’s the colour scheme you’re talking about. That is a little dated, compared to Nike’s 2 tone grey for example.
