here’s a piece that i modified from the coversheet of my application to the advanced creative concepts class in my advertising program.

I love it all, except the futura text lol how its all shiny… it doesnt match the rest but ur work is great!
But hey…You know how at the bottom part were you have the green mountains then the trees fading into it. howd you get the picture of the trees cut out of the green part. becuase if its a mask wich i think it is, ive been trying to do that in PS and cant do it, only im using text and i want the text to like cut out part of the piture i made… ya know what im saying??

Haha, nice job man. The “FUTURA” font and style look EXACTLY like an early 80’s advertisement. Which is why it clashes with the rest of the image. At first glance I thought it could work, but on further observation I became more and more skeptical. I wonder what would happen if you ran with the early 80’s motif … man, that would be bizarre and awesome.
I think the strongest part of the design as a whole is the background in terms of colors and texture. So because of that, the type, laptop and to a lesser extent rocket seem more out of context. I like the bear. Go with the bear, do something different with the bear. Or combine the bear and the rocket somehow. If you don’t have to have the laptop, I would ditch it.
Disregard all this if it’s something you’ve already submitted and are finished with, but if not, might be food for thought. Regardless, nice job, man!
@spades: Can’t you just select transparency of the type from layers and then delete that mask from the other layer?
everything kewl except for the FUTURA… you might want to try to work on it again…
:lol: that’s real nice man good job. I personally don’t think that the way you have FUTURA right now looks bad at all. But that’s not to say you can’t do something better with it. Good job.

Nice, take the advice and change the title font and colour.
The rocket looks odd because of the shading, it should look rougher to match the rest of the piece

the graphics and brushwork are really sick… so nice. excellent work.
but the typography is definately poo-ing this otherwise awesome concpet up.
I would have to agree with simp, the futura logo does work in this case (wierdly, but it does) but like simp said, that doesnt mean you can’t do anything better with it…
and for everyone else, just because something doesn’t use design aspects from the rest of the piece doesn’t mean it looks ridiculous… thats only the case if the job is done poorly. You can have an image thats just so utterly clashing but if its done well then it’ll still look good
