Schumacher who is the head for the Disney Theatrical Group and who has also produced Broadway hits such as The Lion King and Mary Poppins revealed to The Stage that he can simply not think of any another theatrical institution all across the globe that does an extraordinary level of work as done by Nick [Hytner] at the National. He said that it was not Just Britain’s but the entire worlds’ treasure.
He revealed that almost one and a half decade ago he had received a call from Michael Eisner who fired him. At that time The Lion King had been the No. 1 movie all across America, the musical “Beauty and the Beast” had been going strong on Broadway, and “Home Improvement” had been on the first spot amongst the television shows. He revealed that he had been much hurt when he had been fired. And especially whilst he had been unsuccessful it had been quite humiliating. The Disney animation producer named Don Hahn has told a British film magazine that the studio is going to be following its 3D conversion of the Beauty and the Beast with a stereoscopic version of the popular musical that is The Lion King.
There are several people who make the argument that there is nothing unique in Broadway. The different shows tour are the same, for example these people would argue that The Lion King that is playing in Iowa is the same as The Lion King that is playing at Minskoff. But they are totally unjustified in doing so. The musical Wicked that is playing on Broadway is much more special as compared to the Wicked that is playing in Pennsylvania. Although I myself cannot pinpoint why this is so, but it is something that I have heard from the audience time and again. Get your cheap lion king tickets before they sold out.
