I don’t know about all of you but I really don’t like when people put music on their site. It has to be one of the most annoying things, other than clip art, animated gifs, and flaming text. Pretty much any time I am on the internet I am already listening to my own music and when I get to a site with a freakin song playing it throws off my grove and confuses me for a second. Then I have to frantically search for the mute button on the site (if there is one). I wouldn’t make a whole post for this but it seems like everyone is doing it more and more now. The only time it is expectable is if your site has an outdoor theme and it is some sort of outdoor-animal-ambiance sound loop. THAT IS IT! (love you orange sherbert!)

Anyways, just stop! And stop putting the stupid high pitch “click” sound for your flash buttons… everyone uses it and we don’t need to hear a sound when we roll over a button…

Music’s pretty annoying, yes. However, I don’t mind the clicking in flash sites; that might be because I always mute my speakers when visiting a flash site.
i agree about the music, but it actually adds a nice feel to the site, so may be the splash should have the option to disable it!, so we dont have to tdo it after it starts!
i’m with you, i hate music on sites. UNLESS ofcourse its a musicians site, and your there to hear the music. heh.

subtle onRollover sounds are a nice touch, but I agree the high-pitch click has been done to death
I love sites where instead of music they have an ominous ambience that seams to sync with every song i listen to
I agree with you. Luckily since I advocate not using Flash… the sites I visit never have this problem.
I agree on the music playing thing, unless you have gone to say a bands website, then its perfectly exceptable. There music after all is the whole reason for them to have a site.
Music on websites is annoying (unless the aforementioned situation).
~KoN~
But then it still shouldn’t start playing by default.
Smart people would put an on/off switch on their splash page (Because every flash site needs a splash page ) and save it to a sharedObject. The music plays if the user wants and from there on they really dont have to do anything.
least obtrusive way of doing it from as far as i’m concerned…
Too bad we can’t just mute particular programs in whole.
Nokrev is right, band sites should have it, but you should be the one to decide if you want to listen to it or not.
I’ve always wanted to make that!
Make it Linux capable! I like music on sites, but with an off swich;).
I’d make it for Mac. [whisper]Which is Linux…[/whisper]
Make it multi-OS capable.
Meh… I’m probably not going to make it anyways.
I know, but if you did you could sumbit it to penguinrevolution.com. you know, when it exists and everything.
I saw in the MSDN videos that Vista will support controlling volume for each program.
agree with the no music (unless it’s a bands website) and dumb rollover sounds
also have to say I hate sites with unnecessary intros. if they’re well done intros can be great but most of the time they’re not. you sit through a terrible intro (I know I could skip but I’m curious) and then you get to the site and theres some text and an image…what was the purpose of that long intro…
