I just wanted to post this here as a warning for whoever come across a similar situation as I have in the past week.
If you meet someone at a random place (in my case, YMCA) and during the conversation, he asks if you are interested in participating in a highly lucrative business… stay away. If someone you know or your friend asks you the same question and throws in the words, ambition, multi-million dollar income, and key word, marketing, tell them you are not interested.
I just came back from one of these meetings. I thought it was going to be a small meeting with people promoting pyramid schemes, but, I went anyways to find out how they are exactly making money. Well, the meeting had over a hundred people, which surprised me. But what they were promoting wasn’t as impressive. They were involved in a legal criminal sydicate called www.quixtar.com.
I gotta admit… after sitting through the talks, I was almost sold. Some big shot millionaire talking about how he got to where he is and such… the obvious. But they start quoting legitimate business books (which I read occassionally) and lines from my favorite movies, and oh man… it starts to sound believable.
But at the end, it was a hyped up rally with no substance at all. They tell you the structure and financial outcomes, but, they fail to tell you what they do. That bugged me a lot. Even “quixtar” was mentioned once and if I didn’t know about it beforehand, I would still be sitting here wondering a lot of things. Anyways… I did some research and here’s what turned up:

amway/quixtar have been pretty much scamming people for over 20 years now.
Anyhow… if you get into a financial or any kind of slump, and someone close to you or whatever come to you with this kind of spiel, think about this post. i admit… they almost got me brainwashed.
