Oh Timesplitters, what a great game series! I loved all three games! Isn’t it a shame that there aren’t any plans (yet) for a new timesplitters game. For those who don’t know timesplitters (who have a life) lemme fill you in.
Free Radical Made Timesplitters, they also made Goldeneye for the N64 (they broke off from Rare, i think, shortly after)
Name: Timesplitters
Year Realesed: 2000 (Launch Game)
Console: PS2
You could play a total of 11 or 12 (I forget) maps against you buddies or play all 9 story maps (with you mates optional) If you wanted to kick some butt!
Name: Timesplitters 2
Year Realesed: 2002
Console: PS2, Xbox, Game-cube
The story is based around an evil extra terrestrial race called the TimeSplitters who are bent on the destruction of the Earth. However, rather than invasion, the TimeSplitters are using time crystals to travel though time and change the course of the Earth’s history, thus bringing it into ruin. The game starts off in the year 2401, with Sergeant Cortez and Corporal Hart invading the TimeSplitters’ space station in order to recover the 9 time crystals. They manage to make it to the bridge, however are too late as they manage to see the last few TimeSplitters jumping through a time portal, each carrying one time crystal. These nine TimeSplitters have each travelled to a different time period in the Earth’s history, and Cortez must travel to each of these times to recover the time crystals. Upon arrival at each time zone, he takes the form of a different character which relates to the that period in history: for example, in the Wild West he takes the form of the bounty hunter, Elijah Jones, and in Chicago he takes the form of the “hard-boiled detective,” Jake Fenton. Each level is extremely unique and has its own style of weapons, from the wild west rifle and gangster-style Tommy gun to futuristic plasma rifles and homing launchers. The levels often end on a showdown with a boss or multiple bosses, and almost always on the recovery of a time crystal. New objectives are added on harder level settings and new sections to the levels are revealed. The story sees you return to the space station where you have to escape with the time crystals, thus restoring the integrity of Earth’s history.
Timesplitters 2, redifines the meaning: FPS. This game, had an improved map maker, more arcade modes to play with friends and a gripping story line
Name: Timesplitters: Future Perfect
Year Realesed: 2005
Console: PS2, Xbox, Game-cube
TimeSplitters Future Perfect is the third game in the TimeSplitters* series by Free Radical Design. Published by Electronic Arts, it was released on March 22, 2005 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube .
Future Perfect includes online play for both the PlayStation 2 (up to 8 players) and Xbox (up to 16 players via Xbox Live). The game still sports co-op play and four player arcade. The upgraded Mapmaker returns from *TimeSplitters 2 , allowing players to create levels for multiplayer and Story mode; furthermore, the maps can now be exchanged online. There is no online play for the GameCube.
Unlike the two previous games in the series, this game is not published by Eidos, but by Electronic Arts. In an attempt to appeal to a wider audience, they have made it significantly easier than its counterparts. Other changes include the addition of vehicles, the addition of a gravity gun-esque device, and a slower, more realistic pace, a la *Halo: Combat Evolved *. But perhaps the most significant change is the introduction of a coherent story, something that was absent in previous iterations.
This game featured a map-maker that is beyond compare. It was truly amazing. You could now play as alot of different types of ‘monkey’.
So after alot of time copying and pasting, I come to the question I want you to answer, should there be a Timesplitters 4?
