Transition effect help

Hei guys I found an effect that is like oil or like water slowly moving down the glass kind of thing, and after doing that another part of site appears, when the whole area is covered with it. I can’t remember where i saw that effect. It is like an transition but it can be used in many different ways. If you know what am I talking about please let me now! Thank you!

I have no clue what effect you are talking about. A visual example would help, but since you forget i’m just going to take a shot in the dark here.

It sounds like what you are talking about uses a mask animation. Kirupa.com has a few tutorials on how to use masks… perhaps checking them out would be a point in the right direction.

hmm, ok now imagine
you have a window in your room, now you spill something grease on it (now water! oil or something) and the oil starts to slip or glide on the window slowly and on the end it covers the whole area. Ok in could be like water fill effect or similar. I hope this helps

ok here we have water now i’d like this water to fill an area, get it?
Many sites used this effect to create transitions from one part of the site to another.
Hope this helps.

Ok here you can see something like I need. When oyu click on a button, first thing it loads(I don’t need that loader) I need what happens next, the area is covered with dark red color it’s like water oil or jelly or something. That’s what I need  tnx

Oh, that is just a basic shape tween.

What you need to do (for something like this) is create a rectangle… but don’t conver it to a symbol… you can’t shape tween symbols, only raw shapes.

Next right click further down the timeline (however long you would want the tween to take) and hit ‘Insert Keyframe’. Now click on this frame and modify the shape how you would need. In a case like this you would start off by bending the whichever side of the rectangle you want to do this inward towards the center or opposite side of the rectangle.

After you have that done, right click in the grey area in the timeline between the 2 keyframes and choose ‘Properties’. In the properties panel there should be a drop down menu where you can select what type of tween you want to occur. For this you want to choose ‘Shape Tween’ from the menu. The grey area between the keyframes should now be a shade of green.

That’s about it for that effect.

Tnx, I get that! After doing so much with flash and AS, I didn’t know you can do this. d’oh

                                                                 regards, pinc

Yeah, shape tweens are a less obvious Flash tween method… since most people create tweens by right clicking in the grey area and choosing ‘Create Motion Tween’ and to actually get a ‘Shape’ tween you need to go into the properties panel. If you ask me, they should have the option be ‘Create Tween’ and when you select it it comes up with a dialogue box asking which type of tween.
