Transitions

just as well he didnt, sorry about resurrecting this post

my question:

i was wanting to place this animation into certain place of my site how do i go about doing this?

Follow the examples and recreate it for your site.

do i carete them in a new folder or do i create it and load it externally or just create them on new layers?

thakns for everything and all your work is real good well done EG

Well I don’t know how your site is set up, but it would be best to create the transition in a movieclip of it’s own and the rest of the other movies are in external swfs.

Thanks for the comments. =)

thank you, i have attached a pic of my layut so far (comments appreiciated) and in the bottom left hand square is where the movies would be loaded, so can you help from that or shall i just recreate the trnsition above all the other site layers?

The layout looks good and yes, you should recreate the transition on top of the layout. I would use a masking layer as well to hide the transition so only part of it would show so that it would fit that area.

thank you so much amn, is it possible to talk to you on MSN or AIM?

My sn is xgeekazoidx, but I rarely go on since I’m at work.

ok i will add you anyway incase i can catch you sometime, again thank you for all your help (woohoo 30th post)

haha no problem, keep me posted on your progress, I want to see what you come up with using my method. =)

no problem man you will soon see should have it done soon enough, dont expect anything that good as im not to good at this stuff, but hopefully at the end i should have a pretty average looking site :slight_smile:

ok so i have done it all and it works pretty fine but when it loads the external swf’s it loads into the wrong place and i dont know what to do with the masking layer could youi please have a look at it and either tell me what to change or edit it then tell me what you did thank you so much

hey, nice start to your layout teed . You have to post the external swfs as well so we can see your problem. You can group all the files and zip them. :slight_smile:

:::by the way your empty movie clip Loader should be on the top left of where your external swf are going to be. and you should make your externals only the dimensions that you are going to use.

So say you have a 740 X 550 movie , this is the base (menu nav, logo ect…) you have doors the size of 380 X 318. then you want external movie behind the doors to load these external movie should be set at 380 X 318 based on the dimensions of the doors. this way you should be able to put your blank MC (loader) on the left top of the doors and it will fit perfectly inside.

but remember that even though the external movies “canvas” is 380 X 318 you can work as small as you want inside this area.

::hope this makes sense :slight_smile:

ah sorry about that here arte all the files zipped. so could you run me through again on where i should place the blank mc?

thanks for the help and comments

ps run the test.fla

hey teed. depending on what size your external movie is, the blank mc should be on the top left corner of where you want the content to go. here is a updated version of the flas.

::Make note of where the Blank mc is at now and the size of the external movie.

thakn you that helped a great deal, just one more queestion maybe you can answer it or someone else but how do i use a masking layer i dont know how to do it? can any one help me?

thanks a million guys

You should really search the forums first. but to use masking layer the non -actionscript way it to basically create two layer

the top layer being the object that is going to mask and the bottom is the object that is being masked.

You right click the first layer and select mask , then automatically the second layer should be indented to the first layer which is indication to these being together. If not automatically , drag the second layer in on the edge of the first layer and it should indent in.

:::remember that the mask is what shows the underneath layer.
and remember to see the mask working both layers have to be locked

::gotta go. cya
