Trying to get Testing Server Working OS X

Hi all,

I’m getting really confused by the instructions I’ve come across regarding what to enter into the testing server form fields in Dreamweaver MX 2004. working on OS 10.4.2.

I’ve managed to get Apache and Php enabled…this is verified when I type http://localhost…but I’m very confused as to how the testing server is supposed to work. I have all of my websites located on a second internal HD called “Visual” in my g5.

This is the path to one of them for example:

I suppose I don’t really understand the concept of the testing server. Am I supposed to keep another local testing copy somewhere on my “Macintosh HD”?

I’m sorry if the question is noobish, but I cannot find any info that explains this in layman’s terms. The more tutorials I find the more confused I get.
