If u wait you will see the image of the back on the right side has a kind of TV distored effect on it. What do u think of that? Does anybody know of a good tut on how to do it better cause i jsut came up with that off the top of my head.
The distortion doesn’t look real enough because the distortion lines are too thiick.
What I would do is use photoshop and have one regular image, leave that one alone and make a copy of it. With the copy, I would apply the scan line effect to it and then apply Filter > Stylize > Wind > Blast Right. Repeat that process again with a blast left as well so it will really look like a tv distortion.
Import those two images into flash and just have it inside a movieclip with a few frames and have it jump from the distortion to the normal image.
have your image on a layer, make a channel layer (in channels palette) with the scanline effect (1x1 px, so it’s the smallest scanlines possible), ctrl+click the channel afterwards (get the selection), move to layers palette again, click on the layer your want distorted, press “V” (move tool, in this case cut tool), then nudge it 5-10 px to the left… or right…
perfect tv distortion =)
I’m gonna add this tip on my tut’s-to-do list fairly easy, no?
Using hte wind might be alot eaiser then what i did.
I never actualy put the normal TV scan lines on it. There are 3 images on that animation. A motion blur, the TV blur, and the normal image Basicly what EG discribed.
To get my lines i dupicated my image. Then i made a patern of 4 black and 4 white. I made a selection over tmy image on a new layer above it. Thne i made a magic wand selection of the black lines the nudged my imgae over 4 spaces left. Then i made a selection of the white and nudged the seletion 4 spaces to the left. THen i added a blur to it.
I think using hte wind will give me a better random look to the lines thne my selection method.
Eilsoe your technique is pertty much what i did mine wher ejsut to thick.
