Two Clockmaking questions

First Question:
I’ve tried multiple clockmaking tutorials, but everything I’ve tried doesn’t seem to work. I made this clock, however I can’t figure out how to align the hands so the pivot in the correct place since the hands are not symetrical. I’m really sorry if this is a stupid question. . . This is my first actionscripting project I’ve ever done and I just might not be looking in the right places for my answer.

Here’s the clock:

Second Question:

The reason I’m making this clock is as a step towards my future goal of making an even better clock.

What I really want to do is to make an alien clock/calendar (it’ll look something like a mayan calendar wheel), with different time increments than a normal clock. (each ‘second’ = 2.7 ‘earth’ seconds, an hour equals 45 ‘earth’ minutes. etc) The problem is that I want it to align with an earth clock (the ‘alien’ clock actually ends up equaling the same day length as an earth clock, it’s just divided differently based on the moon instead of the sun and has some extra increments, for instance, instead of am/pm, there’s four quarters to the day) The real problem I expect to have, of course, is how do I get it to be a clock and not just a timer? i.e. reset itself every time someone opens the flash? I imagine I’d have to somehow set a date and time for the clock to start from and then somehow calculate the time from there. I’m so new to flash, I have really no idea of how to go about doing this, and I’ve checked everywhere for a tutorial, but I don’t imagine it’s something people create that often. Any help would be very much appreciated.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention, I have Macromedia Flash MX 2004 - Educational Edition (not sure if that’ll affect anything )
