I was going to respond to the thread regarding us being strict, but then I remembered it was in forbidden, so I’ll just reply here. [Update] but I see the thread that prs made was deleted so I’ll just make my own.
In my almost 4 years of being a mod here I have never had nor seen any problems with the mod-member relationship. I always considered myself on the same level as them only with certain privileges and I expected the same attitude from them. History has it that no mod here has ever been overpowering, maybe with the exception of Phil.
With that said, I don’t think they have the right to say anything about how we take charge. However, I think they have every right to voice their opinion anyway. Like I read in that thread, it helps to see what we as mods may need to work on as superusers. We can’t keep closing every thread that bashes on mods only because we can. Sure some may get a little agitated, but they should be able to speak out when they need to.
Now I’ve been on hiatus for the past couple days and from what I’ve inferred, this was sparked by the closing of Ordered (?). The way I see it, most forums these days have a plethora of different subforums where people can talk about certain subjects without it being thrown in the jungle of a single subforum, à la Random. I voted for the closing of Ordered anyway, but now that I think about it, I don’t think it should’ve been closed. I think we should have just imposed stricter rules on the forum. I think if we threatened closing the whole forum down at first, they would have listened.
So what are our options? Well we could re-open Ordered to stifle the complaints and latent bitterness. Or we can continue to ignore their naysays and slowly lose our images.
Again, I could be wrong about what’s going on. This is in no way propoganda to re-open Ordered.
