Bah,
I don’t want to repeat myself, but everyone is to blame, the parents, society, tv and yes, video games.
I think your list in the correct order too!
Does it really matter. We’ll always find something to complain about. Noone ever stops to think WHY they think something’s ethically wrong. Do you ever see a parent question their own morality? While they’re off complaining about one child influence, several more creep up on the child and tell them to go shoot someone.
The irony is that usually the major influence is the parents themselves…
Yeah, I think blaming Parents is an easy way out. I think the blame lies equaly with everything. There is no fool-proof guide to parenting, alot of times they are doing what they think is right. I think its unfair that we sit here and blame parents while none of us know how its like to be a parent (Blindlizard and whonot being the exception) Sometimes these parents do what they think is best and don’t realise that anything is wrong.
Ultimatley its ofcorse up to the parents to change the childs surrounding, what they watch and educate them otherwise, but in an area where you don’t get any retries I think its too easy just to blame the parents.
I agree with everyone here.
I think the idea to start carding kids is awesome!
Make it just like a movie. If it’s rated mature you have to be over 18 to buy or rent it and so on.
^That is just a clear ringing dose of commone sense. Great Idea K-Man.
That is the way that it is supposed to work already… Unfortunately, most retail stores are unaware of this…
However, some national chains, such as wal-mart, have implemented a system where when the item is rung up, it prompts the cashier to check for ID. I found this out when attempting to purchase a white-out pen…
I had no idea it was currently implemented. I am just taking that a step further and asking that the parents sign off on the contents of the game they are buying their kids.
For example, if a parent buys GTA for his child, he should sign off on a little sheet that says: “Game contains animated violence, anti-social action, etc.”
That way the parents will know also
that is a good idea - to make sure that the parents know exactly what kind of activities their children are up to… The real trouble is getting the stores to go along with such a thing. It might hurt sales, and we all know, anything that might damage company profits is not an option…
lol yeah…
Majeye I believe they have that on any “inhalants” like spray paint, paint, some glue, white out…some engine fluids…etc.
They could sign a portion of the receipt just like they do for a “debit card” transaction- store copy and customer copy…that wouldn’t be hard to implement, the profit effect would be the daunting thing to overcome.
I wonder how much effect it would have though? It would be an interesting statistic.

I’m 21 years old and I get carded when I try to buy an R-rated movie! So why not card for video games? They should be doing that anyway. Yea its annoying but then at least the 10 year old kid can’t walk in with his allowance and buy GTA without his parents being there and being held accountable…
