**warning To All Firefox Users**

Hey guys-

For those of you who have not yet installed 0.9 of FireFox you might want to backup before you do. Some people have reported cases while upgrading that their systems have locked up, then upon restart it exicuted an infinate loop sucking all system resources until all of the programs crashed.

Some users have had to nuke their HDD because of this.

That is the exact same problem that others have experienced with this version of FireFox.

i haven’t had that problem thankfully

There goes all chances of me switching to Firefox.

i just switched and its fine…

Yea, but it seems like if I try to switch to something, it always ends up messing up somehow.

that’s for mozilla 1.3.2(on a freebsd system, too), not firefox 0.9. I haven’t seen anyone having a lockup problem with firefox

No probs here… or on my bros computer, or on my girlfriends computer…

yea delete this un-nessicary thread, well need to promote not demote non-microsoft products!

micro$oft isnt actually the answer, so many alternatives that are just as good if not BETTER are available for free!

Eze: I use FireFox on two OSes, I am just making people aware.

Dropkick: It just happend to my friend upgrading from FireFox 0.8 to 0.9 and running Winblows XP Pro.

Although it is an outdated artical, the problem still has showed up again.

thank god i only use and love 0.8

I didn’t have that problem. However, when I installed 0.9 I lost all my bookmarks and preferences. :frowning: So far it’s just been me though, so I’m willing to bet I did something dumb that I didn’t notice.

odd it tasked me if i wanted to import my bookmarks

It just did it for me :-/

same:P hmm oh well

yet you are not afraid of using Internet Explorer.

Tooooooo Funny!

gah im afraid to upgrade…maybe ill just wait till ten…yeah, now that i think of it, 8 is looking pretty…um…safe? right now. ; D

**** I though this had something to do with that old CE movie.

Exactly what I was thinking

And concerning the bookmarks, it looks like the profile are not handled the same way they were handled in 0.8. But it seems that launching Firefox with the parameter “-p” lets you choose the profile directory (I haven’t tried that).

Didn’t happen to me It says mozilla not firefox :S
