Hey fellas …
Holy cow! The last I’ve logged in here at Kirupa was in November 2005. Crazy. But it also kind of corresponds with my broad, broad question.
I was sittin’ in class today when my professor introduced a guest speaker. She called herself a tech enthusiast. In short, she gave a presentation regarding where she believes the internet, and technology as a whole, is heading. Now, I still have doubts regarding her qualifications (as she’s a journalist), but she did present some interesting ideas on what technology’s future possibly has in store for us.
The speaker basically believed that social networks were the future of the internet, eventually the entire web being emersed in it. In total, her ideas were pretty vague and pretty obvious … But nonetheless, it got me thinking.
For example, the last time I logged in here at Kirupa, Web 2.0 was probably the big buzz word of the day. Sites like MySpace, a site that now feels inadiquately stale, was showcasing some breaking technology. The rate at which the internet seems to progress is extreme.
I realize that it’s pure speculation, as it’s impossible to pinpoint exactly where the internet heading … but I’m interested in hearing what you guys think. What do you think the internet will really be like further down the road?
