What's the best setting for importing PS images into Flash MX

I have an image I want to import into Flash and I just want to know what settings are best to use when I output it from PS.

I obviously what to keep file size to a minimum but not compromise the image quality.

Cheers me dears. YP

Save the image as a PNG :stuck_out_tongue:

I usually save my ps images at high quality JPG’s out of ps and set the export quality of flash to 80. It keeps the file sizes minimal and still maintain image quality. I only use PNG’s for images that has a transparency. Hope that helps. =)

I’d say the .png as well, simply because that’s what Fireworks likes and that’s supposed to go better with Flash (Macromedia products and all…). But to be honest, whatever program / format you go with, I’d recommend making sure it’s a vector image. That way you won’t get any loss of clarity if you have to resize the image inside the movie…

Oops, forgot about this thread.

Thanks for advice guys.

Kitiara, how do I make a vector image assuming it was made in photoshop. I assumed it would have to originally start out vector. I’m just getting in vector based stuff so I’ve no clue what I’m talking about.

Cheers.

York, you can use flash mx’s trace bitmap feature to convert it to vector. Just import your image then click on modify > trace bitmap. But I gotta warn you though, the trace bitmap feature is a lil tricky, not all ps images will work well with it, it will sky rocket your file size if you use it on complex ps images.

i export as whatevers the lowest file size. if its like a logo or something i do gif. if its a pic usually jpg, and if it has like a drop shawdow and needs transparancy i use a 24bit png.
