Which blog engine is better?

I was planning on adding a new blogs feature on my site. I have two options right now (4 actually but the other two fail to impress me):

  • WordPress
  • b2evolution

Wordpress has a much lighter installation but hasn’t stated it’s features very clearly.

b2evolution is overloaded with features but most of the people seem to use WordPress.

So I was thinking if anyone has any idea of which blog engine is better, so as to help me make a decision.

Please?

Thanks.

i personally use wordpress:) i just love how smoothly it runs.
i haven’t heard of b2evolution yet though. i’ll try downloading it now;)

UPDATE

The blog feature is still a matter of discussion and is not proving to satisfy the purpose.

Could someone please tell me the best CMS for creating simple webpages containg artist description and certain other useful links?

I came across SiteFrame if anyone knows about it (which I’m sure many do) and it had a very clean, extremely simple and minimalistic interface.

I want this as the users (mostly artists, such as musicians, photographers, designer etc.) have requested that instead of a blog, a feature be installed which could help promote an artist’s identity by giving each a separate webpage (which they will maintain themselves).

Now what I need is a good CMS with a WYSIWYG editor that can help users to just edit the text/content as they need but keep the same layout with different skins ofcourse. So that no musician (sheesh, these are the laziest when it comes to designing something) has to design/maintain anything. You just go there and edit your info and add a coupla pictures and a webpage is made. Simple.

Please? Someone help?

 well IMO there isn’t any good outta the box solution for CMS’ as they are all bulky and semi confusing. For every site that I’ve done w/ Voets we’ve always created a new CMS based off of the personal needs.

Exactly! I have tried Mambo, Joomla, Xoops, Typo3, phpNuke, phpSite and just what not! Dang! And none of them served the purpose.

All I need is a simple web page for each artist. Is there no CMS in the world which can give me that?

what language/database do you use simp?

We… and when I say we I mean Voets does all the heavy programming ;). But we use PHP and MySQL, mostly. But sometimes there’s been a hint of PHP, MySQL and XML.

pheonix, try taking a look at Umbraco, it’s small lightweight and AJAX :D. I’ve not used it yet, but I’ve been tryin to keep track of full AJAX CMS solutions. I’ve heard some pretty decent things about it.

Thanks a bunch bro… Lemme check it out. :thumb:

yea i thougt so…

Hmmm… Umbraco isn’t quite right either… It’s actually the best of all CMS I’ve analysed thus far… Thanks Simplistik.

I guess I’ll just make the personal web-page thingie an exclusive feature on my site by making some sorta CSS template.

If anyone has a better and a more practical idea, please oh please, do let me know.

Thanks!

I think WordPress would suit your needs the best. It is technically a CMS - you can make pages, subpages, and that’s it - no mumbo jumbo or other crap.

IMO WordPress’ advantage is 1) easy installation, 2) easy skinning, 3) easy maintainance.
