First off, I think this is the right forum section for this, but I’m not sure…
Anyway, I have a project coming up for a non-profit organization that needs a dynamic site. I’ve done a fair amount of my own custom “mini-cms” with PHP and MySQL, but since this project will be on a larger scale, I thought it would be a good time for me to learn Drupal. Or Joomla. Or something else… hence the question!
The organization is built around a community of teachers, administrators, and other government employees involved in education. It’s purpose is to mobilize an active community of these people, and provide them with all sorts of news, articles, and opinions.
It will probably need to be managed by multiple people, but not very many… I would guess about 3 different people, maybe more or less, but definitely not like 50 or something. There will need to be sections where “members” can log in, and possibly have their own blogs, add comments to articles, things like that… not exactly sure yet… but, like I said, there will only need to be like 3 actual “administrators”.
Another important feature would be the organization of articles… for instance quick links for “what’s new”, “what’s popular”, stuff like that…
Actually, the site will be similar to kirupa.com in that it is largely a collection of organized “articles”, but also with a forum and some user interactivity. Can anyone tell me if kirupa.com uses a CMS like Drupal, or if it is just built from scratch?
I really appreciate any help and input! Thanks!
