So, currently, I have the lamest graphics card ever. Nvidia Geforce FX 5500.
It cant play hardly any of todays games, I got it to play oblivion with some mods. But saying that it lags with Halo 1 for heavens sake!
So, I am looking for a new graphics card, hopefully I could be reciving this christmas
Here is the info:
Has to be AGP, I’m still in the stone age!
256MB or over.
Must have DVI, VGA looks horrible on my LCD!
Must have pixel shader 3 or above, preferable above.
Must play most of todays games, without any overheating problems… etc… sigh
I was thinking of going nVidia again and getting the GeForce 6800GT. Meets all off above. But I still feel left in wonder mode if it could play CoD4 or prehaps Crysis.
Specs of the 6800GT:
nVIDIA Geforce 6800 GT AGP 8X
Memory 256MB of 256-Bit GDDR3
Memory Clock @ 1000MHz
Core Clock 350MHz
2560×1620 Max Resolution (Digital)
OpenGL 2.0 and Microsoft DirectX 9.0c Support
Connectors D-Sub , DVI, S-Video/Component TV Out
882.5 million vertices/sec.
27.2 GB/second memory bandwidth
But then I was swayed to think about ATi, sure, most games recommend nVidia. But its been a while since I had an ATi card. My last was a 64MB card… disapointed with the overall performance of it. Constant crashing and pathetic compatability problems.
Hopefully the one I have chosen to possibly buy doesn’t have these problems
So. I was thinking of the Sapphire ATi HD3650.
Looks pretty good to me, specs of the HD3650:
Memory 512MB of 128-bit GDDR
Memory Clock @ 800MHz
Core Clock @ 725MHz
2560 x 1600 Max Resolution (Digital)
Pixel Shader 4.1 and DirectX 10.1
More:
120 stream processing units
AGP 4x/8x bus interface
128-bit GDDR3 memory interface
High-speed 128-bit HDR (High Dynamic Range) rendering
DirectX® 10.1 / Shader Model 4.1 support
55nm process technology
Up to 24x Custom Filter Anti-Aliasing
ATI PowerPlayâ„¢ energy conserving technology
Unified Video Decoder (UVD) for Blu-rayâ„¢ and HD DVD at full HD 1080p
… So …
After that lengthy bit of text, which one do you think i should try and get? you can recommend more if you want. but keep it under £60
Thank You Awesome People!
