I was walking home today in the drizzle after a heavy downpour, and was overcome with an unusual feeling of contentedness. People are always complaining about this kind of weather. It has turned colder. It’s windy and rainy, it’s getting darker in the evenings etc etc.
I love it! This autumnal weather gives me a feeling of, ironically, warmth and coziness that i just don’t feel in warm weather. I think it’s a combination of many things. The sound of rain outside, that distinct swooshing noise that cars make when they travel along sodden roads. The leaves on the trees are turning and falling. Wrapping up warm, and most fantastic, wrapping up warm in bed under a huge duvet.
Everything just feels more inwardly focused I think. Heads down to avoid the rain. Layers and layers of clothing. Huddling under bus shelters.
I’m rambling!
Who else loves the supposedly unpopular types of weather more than the typical hot and sunny?
