If you have GRID or ridge racer 6, do you fancy an online battle?
Iād love to buy this gameā¦lol
I have it and letās do it, I canāt get enough of this gameā¦

Cool, letās do it, my favourite events are Remus Drift Battle and Downhill Drift Festival. You game?
When will you be on? Iāll look for your tag
Sounds good, usually Iām on at random, just let me know your gametag so when you request I donāt decline it. (I donāt like having a bunch of random people on my friends list). See ya on the track! :thumb2:
Oh God, to be frank with you, I think (This is my personal Opinion) GRID is TERRIBLE compared to Forza 2. This is only 'cause I played it in GAMESTATION and every car i tried to get past smashed into me and I was all the insides of ALL 6 cars that did so.
Yes, itās a difficult game. But compared to the horrendously understeering Forza, GRID feels like youāre actually driving, braking and accelerating makes the car respond how it should, throwing it round the corner, the car behaves exactly as it should, the physics and weight shifting is impeccable. And the counter steering and gas pedal control when actually drifting is ****ing superb, itās the only game other than kaido battle to nail proper drift mechanics, and realise that drifts are mainly controlled with the accelerator.
Brake drifts and inertia drifts are both possible, realistic, and fun. Handling and phsyics are superb.
I was shocked at how good this game was after playing the abomination that is CMR DIRT.
I think this is one of the best driving games Iāve ever played to be honest, along with KB2 - Chain Reaction and CMR3 and 4.
In fact, the drift mechanics and combo system in this game were undoubtedly inspired by KB2 - Chain Reaction.
redelite, OK Iāll add you tonight, my username is rumblesushi so youāll know itās me
I personally enjoy this game a lot more than the Forza and Gran Tourismo series, primarily because GRID takes a lot of realism physics of the other 2 series and throws an āarcadeā style into the mix. And even though it does have an arcade feel, it stays true to reality: different car weights, drifting mechanics (pretty damn good), etc. I love it, I especially love the crash one time and your done, time to restart. It adds that little extra pressure when your racing. Granted, yes, you can just rewind if you mess up, but they countered that well with giving you more money the less number of times you rewind.
I also think the damage system is great! I also like how items that fall off cars, even cars themselves, are still on the track on your next time around. Keeps you on your toes at all times. Thereās been times where I have been leading a race and come around a sharp corner only to find a car with no front wheels and just smash into it.
Were there other things I would have liked incorporated? Of course. I would love to be able to tweak suspension settings and what not, but hey canāt have everything right? All in all, I think its a great game and for me, the replay value is WAY high.
But again thatās just my opinion.
ā¦and okay rumble, see you on sometime!
I bought it for PC. I played it maybe twice, I just really, really suck at it, heh.
Yep, good post. Obviously they have made it more exaggerated and more accessible too, but trust me when I say this is far, far more realistic than GT and Forza.
Iāve driven a few nice cars, and even tried drifting (ironically I donāt even have a license ) and I tell you what, in real life, performance cars donāt handle like turds on wheels with horrendous understeer.
And yes, in a rear wheel drive car itās surprisingly easy to spin out in a corner if youāre pushing hard, and heavy on the gas.
If you go towards a sharp corner in say, a rear wheel drive BMW at 70 miles an hour in real life, brake and accelerate round the corner - depending on how sharp you are on the steering and heavy on the gas, youāre either going to take the corner easily, without even losing grip, or youāre going to lose traction in the back wheels and start to drift, or youāre simply going to spin out.
What you donāt do is just ****ing understeer straight into the wall like in GT and forza
How people think those games are realistic is beyond me.
The weight shifting and physics in GRID is tops, when you brake, the weight is shifting onto the front, making it easier to initiate a drift, and the realistic weight shifting also enables you to do the⦠INERTIA DRIFT DESU!
Seriously, grid is awesome.
Racing games happen to be my favourite, I picked up the handling in about 10 seconds and was drifting away to my heartās content.
So I suggest persistign until you get it, because once you do, itās goign to be very rewarding.
Good game redelite good game
I had to go, as itās almost 2:00 am here, and I have to sleep. Iāll play you again soon. What other games do you play online?
By the way, what was up with that one guy, anibody killer or something. On the freestyle drift, one of the battles I chained all the way, got about a 50 chain or so, and the guy still had about 50% more points than me, wtf :S
Haha good game⦠Understandable, yeh Iām in the US so our times are completely flip flopped (close enough to it). Other then GRID, I really donāt play much online, I play Halo every once and a while but thatās about it. And to be honest that was the first time Iāve ever played GRID online, it was pretty fun.
I donāt like those freestyle drifts⦠I can never run a path thatās smooth, I keep screwing up. However I do like the shipyard drift battles and the GP track (forgot the name).
And that guy probably got a lot more points because he was hitting the clipping posts like crazy. And from the looks of it he only messed up one time at the very beginning of the race, so he had to have like a x80 multiplier.
See ya round!
Yeah, actually thatās one thing I often forget, the bonus posts, I guess that would bump your score up quite a bit if you hit them consistently.
WOW, that was your first time playing online? Have you mainly been playing the career?
I only got the game a few days ago, but Iāve been playing online every night, itās addictive and fun. And smooth too. In the career mode Iāve only had like 2 races.
I agree about the freestyle on the docks. At first I liked it, purely because it was drifting, but I find it less challenging and a bit more boring than the docks track drifting.
Also, really what you have to do is find yourself a block, and just drift round that, thatās what everyone else does, and to stand a chance at winning, you have to do the same. Which of course takes out the āfreestyleā element to an extent, because all youāre doing is drifting round the same block
You may have noticed, Iām better at the docks track drifting than the GP course drifting for some reason, probably because I like it more.
If you want next time, we could have a go at drifting of course, but also some standard racing. Are you any good at the racing part? I havenāt played it much, Iāve just been drifting it up every night.
The only other game I play online is Ridge Racer 6 really. Oh and Iāve had one go online with Virtua Fighter 5, but I only just got the game, so I need more practice. Do you have either of those games?
Haha, Yeah I caught on to the ādrift around the blockā real quick, then I realized how boring it was and I really didnāt care if I won or not so I just tried to actually freestyle it and failed miserably.
I mostly have been doing the career, the racing portion of the game is a LOT tougher then the drifting, although I gotta say I keep going back and doing the demolition derby, because thereās just nothing like hitting a ramp at 90mph and someone else perpendicular to you hits a ramp and you collide in mid air and do about 50 flips.
But yeah sure we can do some races doesnāt matter, Itās all fun to me except for the stupid Le Manās 24-Hour race. The indy cars, I think, are some of the most fun to drive.
As for the other 2 games, nah I donāt have those. I do have DOOM from the xbox live arcade though and thatās always a blast.
I really think Codies should make an update that implements some code that stops you accumulating points after one ālapā around a block. That would force players to actually do it freestyle as itās meant to be, and would be far more challenging and more fun.
Once we became āfriendsā - how did you find out which game I was in and join me? Iām new to the whole XBL thing, I only have 2 friends, you being one of them
By the way - when we played, that was my first time using the RX7, I usually use the silvia. Itās very difficult to control, itās a lot more powerful than the silvia. You can do massive drifts though, if you get the gas and counter steering just right.
Without a doubt! That would be great.
If you are on the dashboard, it will show you how many of your friends are online. Select that, then you get a list of your friends and what game they are playing. Select the playerās name and a menu will pop out. From that menu just choose āJoin Session In Progressā (or something like that).
The only complaint I have with DIRT is that holding the handbrake around turns gives you unreal grip over actually braking, e-braking has never caused me to spin out or lose control around a turn.
