Who wants to contribute to a small blog project

So Im starting up a little blog type project. I recognize that there are quite a few very intelligent people on the site and would like to gather that into something collectively useful (beyond the scope of the forums and kirupa.com).

At this point we don’t have anything set up, we’re just sort of laying out the idea. I think we’d like a broad amount of topics/skillsets covered that are related to the web. Not too much of one knowledge group or another.

Anyway I’m getting too specific.

If you have interest in posting to a community blog type site and have the time and desire to post once or twice a week please post here. Format your response as close to the following as possible:

Skillset: Django, PHP, Graphic Design, Typograhpy, etc (please post only what you could write effectively on)
Work Examples: Whatever you have as examples of your skills.
Articles per week: However many quality articles you think you could put out a week. Looking for at least one.

The kinds of articles could range from just keeping up with software updates and what’s going on with them to posting about specific problems and solutions in your area of interest. A List Apart would be a good example of article quality, though probably not as long (unless you want it to be).

Take this is a public solicitation for interested individuals. If I feel that you’d add to the project we will contact you via PM and go from there. If you don’t hear anything don’t be offended.

Thanks!

Hey, I would definately like to join.

Skillset: Javascript, extensive knowledge on the inner workings of jQuery, PHP, CakePHP, Ruby, SQL (advanced topics, theories and tips)
Work Examples: hmm, online examples: http://github.com/stuartloxton has a few things. Microformat parser in jQuery, a CakePHP datasource for accessing the YouTube API, a jQuery database system based off someone elses work.
Articles per week: Depending on size; one or two.

Do we need more than one article per week for each person? Say if there is 7 people on the team, one full article a day is enough for most. Unless we’re doing small concise posts like most blogs (ajaxian as an example)

That is actually a very good idea and I’d be interested in doing some AS articles. Maybe 1 or 2 quality articles a week. Besides the fact that everyone already knows how cool I am, you can see some of the schtuff I’ve experimented with here:

And if I don’t here back from you within 2 seconds I will be very offended :run:

We’ll discuss further how many articles per week at a later time, I just want some level of commitment and it seemed like a solid starting ground.

Skillset: XHTML, CSS, JS, PHP (so basically my job), VB.net, C#, UI design
Work Examples: You’ve probably seen me help people in Client-side and such. At my job I deal with a lot of JS heavy forms I could probably write a tutorial on how to handle dynamic forms.
Articles Per Week: I could probably write one every 2 weeks so .5 sorry but I have to be truthful here. I could write more if we want short quality JS snippets to speed up the common day work flow.

I more or less just started a tech blog but I’m a productive person so If you want a article here and there I’d love to contribute. One a week probably wont happen though.

skillset is prolly linux, apache, lighttpd, nginx, actionscript 2 & 3 plus php/sql … and some css ; )

I think the server stuff would a cool set to add for sure.

I’d be willing to contribute my knowledge in the realm of PHP, Rails, and Django. I’ll be releasing some new software in the next week, so I might be a bit busy.

I’d like to actually see this go through and not die like Revision Magazine.

heh, this sounds cool but I’m still working on getting my own dedicated blog up and running…

I’m definitely interested in helping out.

Skill-set: XHTML, CSS, PHP, Security, Server Administration
Work examples: I’ll compile some sort of portfolio some time. I’ve got plenty of work to showcase, I just don’t feel like thinking about everything right now :stuck_out_tongue:
Articles Per Week: I could contribute at least twice a week, however, realistically I will likely only contribute once every week or two. It’s hard to yank out quality topics on a weekly basis, especially since I generally write lengthy (not wordy, but meaningful) essays.

Alright guys if I don’t send you anything right away trust that I’m working on it and look for something from me in the next few days.

I do indeed love to see this idea for tech stuff. Would programming be acceptable? If so,

Skill-set: C, C++, maybe some Java
Work examples: You can see my contribution in coding to Windows, Mac OS X, Linux Kernel, MS Office, Firefox, and any other program you can think of that is not impulsive.
Articles Per Week: 0.5 to 1 on average. I work with C/C++ every day, so there’s always neat things I’ll come across…

Definitely man.

This could really be hype.

Why do you say that?

I’m confused, why are there two threads like this?

One is technical and one is opinion … apparently.

I’m not smart enough to contribute, but would definitely enjoy reading the technical one, maybe the other one. Git 'er dun!

^^ I think Nobody wants to start a technical one where people write about code and stuff. and MTsoul wants to start an opinion one where people write about philosphy, religion, etc. Life basically.

I’ll write things on illustration. You’ve seen things and stuff Jenkins.

nobody, so you going through with this? Also would be cool to see some designs. :fab:
