Why is it when someone that people know more on this board as a “good designer” or whatever you wanna call yourselves “regulars” whatever. why is it whenever one of you post a “check my site” type of post in the random everyone is like “oh good job” “oh i like your style” “oh coming along nicley” (you get my drift) and if someone like me were to post my site in this section the first 5 replys would be “you posted in the wrong place dumba**”?
cause we dont like you!!!
lol, jk… but it’s not about being a good designer, it’s about whether the people here (especially the mods) know you… they’re more lenient
i suggest developing an identity for yourself. One you have a footer, and an avatar to match, and possibly a website, it will be easier to catch respect as a designer. As of now, you’ve done nothing to make yourself stand out. Take the time to design a nice flash footer. There are plenty here to use as inspiration.
oh so it IS notability? hehe. I don’t even really care. I just thought I would mention it. b/c I thought it was so unfair to other people.
I don’t really mind it myself. Just thinking of other people<:}
frankly, i wouldn’t give a ****. i know what my capabilities are and where i need to improve and I don’t need lots of people telling me their opinions. if they were good critical opinions, i wouldn’t mind, but “your site looks great” is not my idea of a helpful comment.

I fully agree w/ you on that. But on the other hand, there are people on this board who do give VERY good feedback, I love it when they do. It helps me out to know what other people think about my work than people I know (like my girlfriend) who sugarcoat thier answers. “i like your site, its allright” is sugarcoating it to me.
I am not a designer and I am not a great graphic artist… I can get things done but it takes me alot longer than some of the better ones here… SO how does one like myself getup in the big league?
Coding… I got up here through coding… AI, PHP, and typically the Game Programming of Flash MX… Was I ignored before… Well… TO a point yeah… But I don’t blame anyone…
Alot of the people that come on here post like 5 things… And 2 of them are… Hey check out my site… Thanks… How about no?
And That site looks great man is a valid response… If they don’t see anything wrong with it… They say that… If they do… They’ll mention it… Just be glad when people give out greats and stuff… I posted a site on another forum a long while ago and it got roasted to hell. And it was a good solid site…
“It’s not a designer site” Wlel no **** sherlock I’m not a designer… I’m a coder… But anyways…
Make an outgoing need to get to know the top dogs and you’ll be in.
I don’t know about everyone else… but aside from SOTW crits, I don’t like doing critiques. I used to… but through experience I realized that just too many people want to hear the “Excellent site” and “Good job” crap. They already made up their mind that their site is perfect as is, so when I come in with my opinions, they get all flippy.
However I will do it occasionally for friends… ie: Lost, Raydred etc. Because I’ve gotten to know them outside of this board and I know they’re NOT “fishing for compliments.”

But that’s just my opinion. **
