Does anyone here run a Windows Media Center system? I have been looking at them and think I might get one when I get back to Austin in November. Maybe Santa will bring one. I want it to replace my TiVo and I want to be able to watch my recorded shows anywhere in my house. I also want to be able to watch downloaded movies on my TV because right now I can only watch them on my computer (or spend an hour fighting my TV to connect a PC to it and watch). Oh and I would like to Rip all my DVDs so that I don’t have to touch them when I want to watch them. The kids are really wearing them out…I swear the DVD thing is a conspiracy agains people with kids because they know the kids will scratch the hell out of them.
How is the live TV recording quality? I am finding conflicting reports from sites that review it. I also saw that someone created an app that lets you control a DirecTV box via a serial cable connection with the Media Center remote.
If you have a Windows Media Center system, did you buy the system? Where? Did you build your own? What components? What should I look for from a prebuilt system? How much should I pay? I have been looking but the hardware varies so much that I really can’t compare them. I so do not understand all the video cards and tuner cards and HDTV cards…aaahhh
I have DirecTV with 4 recivers at my house. One is a DirectTV DVR (TiVo) that has 2 tuners in it so I can record 2 shows at once. Can I do this with a Media Center system? Would I need to connect it to 2 DirecTV recievers.
