I’m very new to networking so I hope this doesn’t seem like a silly question. I don’t know all the ins and outs and terminology yet.
I’m moving house to Belfast soon, to where I’ll be living while I’m in uni. One of the guys who’ll be living there with me and I are gonna set up a little wireless network for our internet and so we can play games and stuff.
I’ve been researching it and Tiscali seem to offer the best broadband service for our budget (£18 /month, up to 8mb download, and unlimited usage).
However, this page states:
The Tiscali modem cannot be used with the new iMac with Intel processors and the MacBook Pro. A router is required for these models.
We’ve been looking at using the Apple Airport Express w/ Airtunes as the wireless base station. We like the idea of the Airtunes functionality, and the simplicity of the Airport.
Both computers will be wireless enabled out of the box. I’ll be using an Intel iMac and he’ll
be on an Acer notebook.
So what I’d like to know is, will a Tiscali broadband modem work with an intel Imac through Airport Express? And what, if anything, do we need to add to this set up to get up and running?
Cheers
