Xbox 360 Red ring of death and a little bastard on ebay

Hi, I bought an xbox 360 on ebay, from a guy who claimed it was between 5 and 6 months old. When I got it home, I saw that the manufacture date was April 06, and when I turned it on saw the red ring of death.

So I’m a bit ****ted off about this, initially I was furious and emailed him threatening to go to the ppolice (I doubt they’d be any help but figured it might scare him into giving me a refund).

Another ace up my sleeve is calling his parents and squealing like the squealer I am; I know who the guy is, and how old he is, and that he probably still lives at home.

Since then I got a very contrite response saying it was working when he posted it, rar rar rar, and he’s an honest guy and would never do such a thing. So I’ve been making nice and have given him the benefit of the doubt, I don’t want to pillory someone who genuinely isn’t at fault.

That being said, I really really really don’t believe him, but what can I do? Since I didn’t use paypal, I’ve got no recourse, and the police are unlikely to help, and the over priveleged **** has probably spent my $450 anyway.

I feel a bit stupid too.

Anyway, for now I’m more focussed on getting a working xbox, (that has taken me months to save for – bahoohoo) so decided to go to microsoft since they have an extended warranty on this error.

Anyways, has anyone ever returned a faulty console to microsoft and got a decent (preferably new) one in return?

Any good ideas for a public naming/shaming?

Just wondering…

Thanks
