So I hear some bad things about Vista, but mostly about application support. My dad wants a new desktop, and I’m wondering whether I should be getting it with XP or Vista. He’s not much of a hardcore user, and I have my own computers, so don’t worry about me 
He just needs the basic things: email, web, office.
So I’m pretty much asking, is Vista really buggy and annoying (security prompts and crap), or should I just go for it, considering it’s the latest in the Windows world.
Oh by the way, Linux is out, and he accepted my proposition for a Mac, but I have my doubts he’ll be able to use it very well without my help. It may be straight forward and easy to use, but he’s really slow at adapting to change.
