Your favorite and least favorite 3 fonts?

I’m sure there is a thread like this already. I haven’t read it. : )

Top3, in no order;

 • Avenir
 • Frutiger
 • Lucida sans

Bottom3, in no order;

 • Impact
 • Haettenschweiler
 • Garamond

Top3, in no order:
MS Sans Serif
Myriad Pro
Trebuchet MS

There are many many fonts that I hate and its too hard to pick.

Morpheus and Daedric is also a nice font but not practical for normal use.

//edit, WoW and Oblivion.

Top 3:
Gill Sans
Perpetua
Bodebeck Light

I hate all the others - so you can pick which three are at the bottom

EDIT: Mind you, I do like Lassigue D’Mato

Meh… I use too many different fonts for too many different applications to have a top 3 or bottom 3

I guess Trajan Pro is pretty nice… but it all depends on what you’re designing, 99% of the time you can’t even use your favourite fonts

That wasn’t the question though faster. The question was about your favorite fonts, not the ones you use most or what suits which design best. : )

And I was saying, I don’t have any favourite fonts because I haven’t used a “fancy” non-Verdana-type font on more than one occassion.

How can something become a favourite if its used only once?

I guess, for the sake of argument, Verdana, Helvetica and Times New Roman are my favourites…

They’ve stood the test of time, and have more applications than others

How can something become a favourite if its used only once?

Perhaps because you get to choose what’s a favorite and what isn’t? It’s completely subjective.

“this new tennis racket I’ve only ever used once and probably won’t ever use again is my favourite EVER. No other racket will live up to the notoriety of this racket, now I will put it in my closet and never use it again… it sure is my favourite”

to be a favourite, in my eyes, it needs to be applied in more than one design… and only a handful of fonts can do that… ie: the basic ones

^FTL… you must be really bored at work today to try to turn this into a serious debate.

I’m not a designer and even I hate Times New Roman.

Well it wasnt until other people started questioning my logic, gosh, and who said anything about debate?
I’m not forcing my views onto you people, I am just simply explaining my reasoning on why I dont have favourite fonts

“this new tennis racket I’ve only ever used once and probably won’t ever use again is my favourite EVER. No other racket will live up to the notoriety of this racket, now I will put it in my closet and never use it again… it sure is my favourite”

… so you’re saying you’ve never used the same font on more than a handful occasions? Interesting

Top 3, in no particular order:
[] Futura*
[] Helvetica*
[] Adobe Garamond*
Bottom 3, in no particular order:
[] Comic Sans*
[] Papyrus*
[] Times New Roman*
Obviously all fonts have their purposes, but those particular fonts are so frequently and badly used that they’re on my list. :fight::beam:

hmm, my top right now are probably arial rounded bold, and bedhaus (sp?) or any other popular web 2.0 fonts.

the ones Im not a fan of are those messy looking grunge fonts…

Top 3: Agency FB, Interstate, Helvetica. I also really like Gil Sans, OCR and Russell Square.

Bottom 3: Comic Sans (I hate it), Rosewood (it’s annoying), and Cooper (just looks silly).

@Temp - Morpheus was around long before WoW.

I know. Its usually known because of wow though. I use to use it before wow had it because I thought it was cool and I was addicted to oblivion and all those cool medieval type fonts.

Meh favs- if you have favourites, then things get boring and limited.

How about pet peeves?

I couldn’t possibly disagree more. That’s just irrelevant ranting. Things get boring and limited when you aren’t able to break free from your “style” however. Like illustrators and designers that keep designing the same things, over and over again. They adopt a certain “style” that they are unable to break free from and hence become unable to diversify their work and create concepts for something outside their comfort zone.

Favorites when talking about something visual has nothing to do with how much you use it. It’s just about something you think looks better on its own than something else. Not necessarily looking better along with something.

Sigh, arts people. Always so emo :stuck_out_tongue:

^ that rant was pretty emo.
Looks like someone pooped their pants because they can’t take a wee bit of heat!

'twas just my own opinion - and if you want to enforce yours on everyone who comes into this thread, go suck a lemur tit!

They taste foul
