Family cultural origin: Er… Sri Lankan? Most of my family is in Jaffna. Actually, I was the first one in my entire family history to be born outside Sri Lanka (born in Thailand).
For the following criteria, what do you feel best reflects your national identity?
A Building/Structure: Hmmm… I’ll say the entire city of Polonnaruwa. Never been to Sri Lanka, so I’ve only seen pictures, but the ancient architecture there looks amazing…
A Manufacturer: Don’t know of any.
A sports personality: Vidura Jayasooriya. Simply because he’s the only one I can think of right now. He plays cricket. I’m sure there are a lot of good tennis players coming out of there too though.
Food: Ooooh… everything. Well, everything not spicy. Okay, so that leaves… rice and dessert. Mmm… It’s a great place to go if you’re vegetarian, by the way. (Just maybe not if you’re on a diet… dessert… )
An event: Thai Pongal - by far, my favourite festival. Free dessert!
Item of Clothing: I’m going to say saris. And those really cool school uniforms they have. But especially saris. And half saris.
