Out of curiosity of my ignorance or the term 1337, I looked it up and found http://www.1337.org.uk. I had to hold my nose as I wadded through this sites uniqueness. But now I am enlightend, I can say things like, k|RuP4 f0RuMz R0cK, and J00 4r3 411 f4Gz (dont mean that one btw  ) but by far the most entertaining things I got from this cough website, are the quotes bellow, sorry to any 1337 here no offence ment

The primary goal in 1337 speak is to proclaim your own 133tness, preferably at the expense of everyone else. The best way of doing this is to declare everyone else a homosexual

The key to successful 1337 speak is to think of the wittiest things you can, forget them and insult everyone in a mindless and adolescent manner. Try to imagine you are a 14-year-old illiterate male with no friends or life and a massive **** collection and you will be there. It will take practice but with patience, immaturity and vindictiveness you too will become fluent in 1337 speak.

This method of speaking has also been adopted by European gamers but in an ironical way, which, of course is lost on its inventors who, being American, are genetically blind to this form of humour.

y4Y !

U mean to say that the [enter, 1, 1] 1337 k|23W terrorists on cs arent actually a real terrorist organisation? :d:

PS. It is perfectly readable for names and short words, tho whole sentences arent easy; and if u read it long enough, like any language with its own character set, then u can read it quickly.

Its simply a different symbol to represent a letter or number. Everyone can recognise a 7 whether its crossed or not because we’re used to it, but a non english reading arabic reader wudnt know they were the same character even those they use different symbols. Its simply a matter of familiarity, and those who say its hard to read just cant be bothered trying in reality :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Regardless, as long as its novel to you, then its cool!

Well then we just have seperate opinions of what “cool” is then bro.

I find it annoying, and Lame.

You cant in any way attribute it to learning a second language man. It was developed my 13 year old kids playing a video game.

Its not like learning latin or arabic by any stretch of the imagination.

Well,
To tell you the truth, I think that is really dumb looking up on how to learn l337… Those websites are for worried parents, or people who just can’t read…
I learned the old way, playing a lot of online games… (counterstrike)
thanks

grinch:kir:

[defensive] I wasn’t actually trying to learn it, I was just curious cos I have seen 1337 pop-up a lot lately and seen as I don’t spend much time playing games like counterstrike, or whatever, I didn’t know what it was[/defensive]

its more like learning a simple programming language i suppose

1 @|/| != 31337

Well apparently its just a programming language :stuck_out_tongue:
“!=” is “not” in a certain programming language right (dunno whichone)

!= not equal to yes, its just about a global symbol I think, php and c++ I know. However here your looking at the shape it makes, Im not sure what its ment to be though, |/| I assume is M and @ = A

well, actually you use 4 for A, not @, @ is ‘at’. noobs :sure:

I use A for A and M for M. losers :sure:

wish I hadnt started this now :sigh:

I’m just saying, why go through the trouble of typing four characters, //\ or whatever you guys do and simply use the letter itself? I don’t see what’s so cool about using substitute characters.

and <3…is that supposed to be a heart? if so, someone better pick it up.

thoriphes, I total agree with you. I see no use for it other than stirring up arguments, which I seem to have achieved with good effect

Lol right Koorb :thumb:
