ive got these 3 progs, im completely new to them, and i would like to hear some opinions on these and experiences you have, and maybe some other programms you refer to, cause they are better or something like that…
i guess I will give you my opinion since no one else is…
all of those programs are good…
if you have the money and the hardware for it, Maya is the best, most used professionally, and most expensive. The learning curve is the about the same for all of the programs that you mentioned. But as far as useful advice?
Lightwave, 3D Studio Max, Maya, Rhino, Animation Master are the best of the best, each one does it’s own cool thing…
for example, rhino is best for the individual small “part” that might make up your robot in an animation…while animation master could use those parts to make a very dynamic character…while 3d studio would be good for creating rich backdrops and scenery, and finally maya would be good at everyone of those things or the best for incorporating all of those things into a final 3d production. The best advice i can give you is look for tutorials online all over the place through google etc…
3ds max…Excellent program to start with the resources available are abundant. Industry standard tool…widely used and accepted…I tend t use Lightwave a little more but I do use it.
Strata 3.7 Heard some good and bad things about it it seems to be pretty cool. Not many fols use it. I think you are better off with plasm or swift. But since you have it let it fly. Tell me aout the proggy
Maya 4.7 I just started using maya around 2 months ago I am starting to adjust it seems very intuitive I like it. There are not as many resources for it. BUt the help files conatined in are great.
What else you wanna know. You have quite a design studio happenin there witht hose 3 proggys
Studio Max is the most user friendly in my eyes, Maya is a great program and now its used widely everywhere, seems to me that every animation company is looking for people who are skilled and trained in Maya.
I’m a big Softimage fan myself, so go figure. They all serve their purpose, just dont mention Raydream and I’ll be happy.
