I’ve been trying to persuade my employer to let me have a 3D graphics program for my work. I tried for 3DS Max (naturally) then Maya, but at three grand, they’re not too keen.
I’ve been pointed in the direction of Cinema 4D - has anyone ever used this, and more to the point, is it any good?
i know htat it is not MAX or Maya, but at 1k its a good price. brodcasting i think uses it a lot too from what i hear. and with R8 you can save colour paths and bring then into PS and change the colours with out having to re-render. so thats a plus.
Lightwave 7.5 and Universe are worth a look at too and they are less than max or maya. I use lightwave here at work and it is great. My buddy uses universe and he said and I quote “It is the bomb and kicks the SH!* out of max”

They both have a kinda high learning curve. But just jump in the deep end of the pool. I would suggest max because of the available resources. BUt lightwave is relatively simple. They all do the same stuff just in a different interface. So once you learn one it is just a matter of learning the different interfaces. You can start off with like Plasma made by discreet also it is a dumbed down version of max but has alot of the major features and the same interface. its like 600 bucks
