[3dsmax] Developing Cracks in a 3d model

Ok, so i searched google, but no such luck due to the ridiculous amount of “crack and serial” results :a: !

I want to create some cracks on a plane where a cylinder is coming out of it. As if the cylinder had broken through. Even better would be a way to distort part of the plane to make it look more realistic.

Does anyone have any ideas or tutorial links ???

All those crack sites get on my nerves sometimes :a:
