We recently bought 802.11g WiFi Internet, and set it up. Everything worked fine, but on my computer upstairs, the connection is simply lost after some time. My sister using her laptop Internet PC Card in the room right next to it is surfing just fine, and mine just shuts down for some reason. I tried disabling the other Ethernet Card that was already in it, but still no luck.
Also, I should be able to access the router configuration by entering it’s IP in the browser window. But it gives me a 505 Gateway when I do that. What’s going wrong here ?
burn it. I used this same thing and it messed up all the time. I’d be one room over from the stupid box, and it’d stop working. Plus it’d only go out when I was doing stupid stuff, when I was doing something important on the net, it’d die.
I had the same problem with my desktop PC. I used my laptop to access the router and assigned static IP’s. I then configured my desktop withthat IP and it worked fine.
Good luck, I was tearing out my hair by the time I had it all working.
i donno i have never had problems. i i dont htink that dtops are very good for wifi though :-\ i would try to wire it. but call whoever makes the router.
Yeah - I have had problems with my wireless connection also. My room is almost behind the wireless antennta thing, and the connection would stop working for no reason whatsoever :bandit:
Trust me, they are better. just carry one or two around with you and eventually it will catch on because its 1: more secure 2: sometimes faster 3: more reliable 4: Prefered by coppertop (i wouldn’t trust the last one will have much of an impact)
All is working now. Managed to fix it. Thanks everyone I do prefer wires too, but there are three stories between my comp and where the cable comes in …
Forgot to say why If my family moved the router/base, my connection was lost. And for some reason, I couldn’t access the controlpanel in the admin account, but I could in the user account.
