Just about everywhere. When I can’t find the ActionScript I want I use google and find tons of tutorials this way. Pop over and go through the tutorials over at:
kirupa.com that’s a great start. You’ve already been there I’m sure, all the tutorials I’ve done there have flas to download and go through the AS you need to use for the tutorials. Do a search for <b>open source</b> flash.
What effect do you want exactly? Would you want your text to change brightness in a loop with a tween and simple AS? Like a glowing effect.
You might want to do shape and motion tweens with basic actionscript such as gotoAndPlay(), stop() and so on.

Why don’t you use swish too. You can download the demo on www.swishzone.com It was some amazing text effects… (like blur)
