AI battle

I’m not sure how many of us would be up to this sort of thing, I know for me it would be one of the biggest challenges I’ve yet encountered,
but I’m addicted to pushing my own limits, so here goes anyway.

Flash allows two or more swf’s running on the same machine to connect to one another and send information. It would be possible to have two different people write two different flash movies that interact with each other when you place them in the same window together. Ultimately, these interactions could form a simple game or battle of some kind, so that the swf’s would be competing.

Of course, we would have to agree on an interface, or a standard set of messages that would be sent between swf’s, and to make it fair we might have to use a referee bot as well. The Entries could be posted in threads in the same window, so voter’s would be able to watch replay’s of the battle on their own computers.

What do you think? I am crazy or would it be fun?
In any case I don’t think it could realistically happen anytime soon. It would have to be a long term battle.

better yet, we can use NetConnections (requires FlashComm) instead of a LocalConnection and make an online multiplayer type of thing… THAT would be awesome =)

but who will host? I don’t have that stuff

i do have a flashcomm server (with limited capacity though)

maybe someone can program some terrain generator(to place obstacles in random places) and then we program a bot equiped with some sort of weapon(maybe a laser) and to hunt down the opponent bot while avoiding randomly placed obstacles. all participants would recieve the terrain generating fla and program their bots around that. that would be fun :stuck_out_tongue:

i would really like to participate in such a project, but not currently though, i have a LOT of projects and little things that i need to work on… if this battle would take place sometime in july, count me in =)
