This is not another is God real or not debate, or a debate on if traveling faster than light is possible.
I think a few weeks ago I was reading that TV signals leaving Earth are stable or declining and will only decline to nothing in the years to come as we turn to cable and satellites that are aimed at us and do not emit into space.
The point being that TV signals that would be detectable by aliens will no longer be produced. So in essence we will have only put out detectible signals for 100 odd years or so. Meaning that intelligent life was listening they would have only a 100 year period that they could hear us.
Anyway I was thinking that if aliens where aware of us and could travel here would they make contact.
In Star Trek for example they have their Prime Directive, where by they do not contact aliens unless they have developed Warp (faster than light travel) capabilities.
So I thought if we had the ability to travel to other planets would we make contact with them. If we traveled to a planet and found Egyptians building pyramids we would look like Gods to them and change their whole social religious beliefs.
So in the interest of not destroying their culture and beliefs we wouldn’t make contact.
So assuming that other intelligent life wanted to watch how we develop, they wouldn’t have made contact with us when our Egyptians where building pyramids and believing that the sun was a God. Because that would have changed everything and we would have worshiped them as Gods.
So I think that even if aliens could contact us, they wouldn’t as long as we have religion.
***** they would be advanced enough to explain exactly how we came about after the big bang.
So that would put an end to all religion on Earth and change everything.
***** they proved that a certain God exists, say Christian.
But since there are hundreds of religions that would again change everything.
So aliens wouldn’t contact us until one of two things happen.
1. We all accept there is no God….
(which is what will happen eventually)
2. We all agree on 1 religion and 1 God… And that would have to be the correct 1, the same God they believe in or they wouldn’t contact us for fear of interference.
(people are never going to adopt 1 religion over others, so this will never happen)
Conclusion:
If friendly Aliens can contact/visit us they wont until we put all religions behind us for once and for all.
