Are "green" harddrives better for backup storage?

I’ve almost ran out of space and need to buy new 2 TB drive. I’m considering getting one of the low powered / slow RPM harddrives such as the Western Digital Caviar Green. I’m just going to store videos and music. I have two questions about these kind of drives:

[]Have any of you found that these drives were too slow for your purposes? Will video be choppy if it can’t read the video fast enough? And the same with music… I will be constantly playing music off this drive.

]If these kind of drives run at lower RPM, lower wattage, and lower temperture, does that increase the lifespan and integrity of the drive?
