my cd drive tray wont close and stay closed. Im running a Dell Dimension 4400 with a CD-RW drive and when i press the button to close it, it closes and pops right back open. it may be a simple fix but i just dont know the solution! maybe one of you techie gurus out there can help me out!
if it’s a dell, you should call Dell’s tech support. that’s what they are there for =)
They do have the best success rate of any computer tech support
They did a thing on the news in my area about companies with the best tech support lines, dell was number one in successes

my damned friend told me not to get a dell. hes such an idiot, im never listening to him again. everyone agrees that dell is good, but no… what he says is always right. (dont mind me)
I don’t own a Dell, I build all my computers, but my senior year of high school, my computer networking class got a whole room of nice new Dells. It was the first time I have ever used a Dell, I loved them. I had no problems with my machine other than crap that other people that used it did to it.
If I were to buy a computer from a company, it would be Dell, I like them, and they have good tech support
That or Alienware… but Alienware is way way way expensive.
well you could get the same computer for like $300 less if you build it yourself. But you wouldn’t be able to call and have tech support if you do that. But dell is by far the best company to buy a computer from. Unless you want a mac, but then you don’t deserve to be called a human :).
If I were to own a Mac it would be a g4 with OSX, and I will just use it for graphics and such.
Everything else would be done on my PC right next to it…lol.
NaliWarCowZ: you save WAY more than 300 bucks building your own system… I can build a system for 1500.00 (US) that would cost around 5500.00 from dell or gateway.
Peace
how would you go about having a computer built? do you go to best buy or something? im pretty lost…
no you build it yourself… order everything you need and assemble in the comfort of your own home =) … it really isnt that difficult so long as you pick the right components.
Peace
redViper, depending on what you plan on using you computer for, your friend could be right. Dell does make good PC’s and have good tech support, but if you want more of a dominant rig, its better to go somewhere else.

wow! lol@build it yourself. its pretty cool that you can do that, because i know that i wouldn’t know what to do.
lol well i solved my cd rom trouble! it was the CD-RW drive, i just needed to download a new patch. and thanks for all the helpful tips on computers! hah other than this minor problem Dell’s are definetly good, my parents bought two of them, and theyve served us very well. but yea, if you dont want to build your own, then Dude! you’re gettin a Dell!
If you don’t know how, then learn, it is easy
>>>is there like a class you can take or something? i could never just open up the back of my pc and expect it to ever work right again! lol
it is seariously WAY more simple to build then people think - honestly. Its basically A -> B -> C … etc… the hardest part is making sure you get components that will work well together (and thats not hard either)…
No you dont need a class, just do some reading online…
I ran a search for you (Im feeling helpful tonight:P ) and here is a good article at PCworld:
http://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,55674,00.asp
Go Nuts, and learn the joy of saving thousands of dollars and also having a system with ALL the things you want WITHOUT any crap you’d normaly get and never use… cheers!
Peace
I learned how to build my own computer within the first year I had my computer. Built my first one in a year, and have only built my own computers since.
Saved me a lot of money, and nothing beats a custom made computer

Couldn’t be put better!!

wow! thanks so much ryall!
DELL has the best tech support huh? Why do you think that is? Because they have the most practice with it! I hear all the time about Dells breaking and stuff. All of my friends and people I know that bought Dells recently had their hard drives fail. Dell sent out a bad batch…
I have some friends that own a small computer company, and I have them make my computers…
Hmmm, I have used many a Dell in my day and had no problem.
Neither has anyone I know that owns one. Including my Networking teacher who has about 40 of them in his class.
The only times he had a problem with them is when people mess with them and screw them up.
