Seems Sony is trying to kill their format before it even releases, I know theyre trying to stop piracy but with these ridiculous prices all theyre gonna achieve is kill their “superior” format.
This was expected… It always happens like this. Soon enough they’ll have more factories and the process of creating the media will be more industrialized, then the price of the blank media will fall dramatically. This happens every time, it didn’t kill of DVDs, it didn’t kill off CDs, it won’t kill off Blu-Ray.
I agree with Mik3 100%
Maybe it wont kill it but it definitely wont make it as popular as cds and dvd media, heck even dual layer dvds arent sold as much as single layer dvds and untill they go down in price they wont sell as much as cds or dvds.
Blu-ray not only does it have a high price but we also gotta see how many people adopt the format. For a few more bucks you can get a 300gig HDD which you can write and erase as many times as you want.
Im scared to say it but I think Billy Gates was right when he said everything will be either flash memory based or portable hdd with streamed media and on demand services to download to our storage devices.
Theyre doing it with xbox live arcade and its working its only a matter of time till developers adopt this and broadband is the norm and this will defnitely happen.
I definitely won’t be getting one for a while.
I am wondering how much PS3 games are going to cost if they are being made on Blu-Ray.
totally agree all new media forms are initially exspensive…what did you expect?? a blu-ray player is like $1000 at the moment…if you can afford that then I’m sure you can afford the discs.
I’ve no doubt whatsoever that PS3 games will be the same price as new PS2 games.
I think Sony is going too overboard with their anti-piracy crap. It’s going to be the end of them. I guarantee their market share in consoles is going to go down drastically.
Even though this is pretty random itotally agree. Piracy cannot be stopped.
Like DRM laden music tracks have slowed iTunes’ sales? If the hype for the product is there, people will pay.
