Blur question

here´s what I want to do, I want to be able to add blur to this picture but separate, the last robot with blur, the middle with less and the first without, I have photoshop but I´m new to the program, what to do?

did you do this in a 3d program? if so then why dont you render it with DOF? I cant help you unless we know your 3d program.

if you did it all in Photoshop then you jsut select the robot and add a gaussian blur (sp?)

oh sorry! I did it with swift 3D

To add blur in Photoshop, you would need to seperate the robots into 3 layers, and then apply a different amount of blur (gaussian would work) to each layer… you’d probably want to save the file in 3 different versions, one for each robot, and delete all but one of them in each file, render them seperately, and then import them into Photoshop, and then into seperate layers… if your completely lost at this point, I suggest finding some basic Photoshop tutorials… Good luck.

you can do it on one layer also…Just use your lasso tool with a nice sized feather to it, then do your blur…be sure to trn on antialias

ok, think I did it, thanks SeiferTim! I´ll try your way too DDD

now that I think about it…I think it would be more realistic if you did it on one layer. Why you ask? Because that is how DOF works one of your object may get caught in between the dof making it more realistic. Instead of it beginning at one robot then drastically stopping at the next…just thought I’d add to it.

ok, did it in one layer, here´s the result…
what do u think??

that looks good…see how part of the second bot gets caught in the DOF? That is what you wan basically…good job.

Thanks for your advice man!
