Book suggestions

Recently i bought 3 books aout flash MX.

The first one is Flash to the Core by Joshua Davis. Its great, it literally breaks down flash into little bite size pieces and gives you a look at actionscripting from the designers point of view, not the developer. I love the book and recommend it to any Designers who are looking to move into the flash domain with their ideas. It can turn you from designer to developer in no time and still keep track of your design state-of-mind. 5 stars from me

The other book i bought is Flash Math Creativity by Friends of Ed. It takes all the things you learned in high school about physics, algebra, trig & calc and transforms it into cool actionscripting affects. Its choc full of code and you could’ve had a D in math to understand it. 4 stars from me. the reason i deducted a star was because the web sites linked off the book give examples of certain properties but don’t go into depth, more like a show off. but other than that its great for anyone looking to expand their action script knowledge

the final book is called Flash Deconstruction, by the good people over at Juxt Interactive. This book breaks down key actionscript codes for outstanding playback and almost anything else you need to know about flash MX. fram by frame help and it uses the company’s on website as a starting poiunt to deconstruct the script. This is a great book for anyone looking to make their web buiness better or any designer looking to make his flash knowledge max. Even complete flash newbies can use this book. Its that easy. 5 stars

Thanks for the reviews. I’m not big on buying books, but your reviews are appreciated

Thanks for the reviews  I agree with what you said about Flash Math Creativity. And I love Juxt Interactive’s work. I was thinking about buying the book when I saw the site they did for it, but the code samples didn’t really impress me (just like Joshua Davis’s samples in fact).

yea, i agree with you about joshua davis’s examples, but i think he was really going for a fundamental approach to it rather than a “holy crap!” approach. its definately not a book for actionscript crazed developers, but rather for the designer’s approach to flash.
