I made a few buttons in Photoshop that I want to use for my flash site. I placed them in and lined them up using the X and Y co-rds and my eye.
When I go to publish, the buttons appear distorted, one kind of like it has been stretched 1px upwards, another on mouseover looks like it was stretched 1px horizontally.
What do you think is wrong? I checked my images and they are not stuffed, and the dimensions match up in MX.
the way I see it is that the height of the hstory button is a bit too big and the k9 stats button is fine but when I rollover it then the s (“k9 stats”) width decreases and the button’s width decreases too! :-\
well, i dont think its flash on the history button, thats too big of an increase i think. you might want to go back and look to make sure its not a pixel off in the height of that instance. on the other button when it shrinks, ive been having that same problem and i cant seem to find a fix?
Try this, in photoshop, give your button images a 3-5 pixel transparent margin all around. The buttons will still look the same, but now has a transparent border which will help it from being distorted when you bring them into flash. I had this problem too and that was how i solved it. Hope it helps. =)
Well i dont know how you can apply a link to them if they’re not symbols, not that i know of. Could you post a fla containing your buttons so i could play around with them, maybe i could help. =)
Here you go darthpingu, I fixed it for you, the problem was that your images need a width and height of a odd number, it cant be an even number. For example, your original history button has a width=91 height=30, I adjusted the canvas height=33 and left the width=91 since its already a odd number. I did it to the rest of the buttons in the your fla so now it works fine. Flash tends to stretch things by 1 pixel sometimes. Now all you gotta do is change the canvas size to the rest of your images. Here is the fixed fla. =)
