I saw a commercial this morning that got me thinking about charity and I was wondering what others thought about it too.
It was for a commercial for one of those sponsor a dog organisations, you know a dog with no home kind of thing, and to be honest it really annoyed me. God knows where these places get money (Goverment?) but it annoys me to think there are other charities that help cancer sufferers, fight heart disease, help the homeless, starving, needy and abused but some people won’t give cash to them. They’d rather give cash to a charity for DOGS!!! I might be biased cause I don’t really like dogs, but what do you guys think?
Also do you think there is too many charities, confusing people about which one to give their money to. I think, for instance, if all the homelessness charities in the UK merged and formed a large organisation with their combined resources, cash and publicity they could get much more done for their cause than they ever could as several small organisations. What do think about this?
Also what effect do you think charities like Moonbeams has had on people giving to charity. Moonbeams was an organisation in Glasgow who collected for children with cancer but when the goverment investigated them they found out only 10% of the 2 million pounds they’d raised had actually went to the kids while the organisers of the company stole the rest. What do you think?
And, finally, if you don’t give to charity…why not? Don’t worry you won’t be ridiculed or made to look bad…I’m just curious is all :h:
