Chatbox help

I’m trying to make a chat box.

This thing works just like a guest book where users put their name and their messages and the messages will be stored and displayed in the pages, so that if another user come he will see the messages and be able to reply the message and so on.
(So this is not 2 user connected together like AIM).

I made the flash file already and i attached it.

But I have some problem about the message. The message will be overwrite if another user type something. So this mean the pages will have just one message all the time and I want it to be able to work just like a chat program where message shown everytime.

Can anyone help ?

it isn’t that simple. you need to use a server-side programming language such as PHP and use either textfiles or a database to store the messages :slight_smile:

Do you know off the top of your head where I could find a good chat/guestbook tut using flash and PHP? I found a few, but all the comments on the bottom of the tuts say that they don’t work, therefore, I haven’t tried them. If not, I’ll keep searching. Thanx!

Just when I thought I had already seen everything. Thank you for showing me that. I’ve been doing a bit of PHP in HTML and it’s working well - I like it, but I like Flash better - but connecting them I don’t know how to do yet. Let me know when that GB tut is done!
