Check font quality

Hello,

Is there any way to check if the font I download is actually a genuwine pixel font that will work in flash?

Is there any way to distinguish the pixel fonts from all the other fonts I have in windows/fonts/ ?

thanx…

You can check if you have a genuine pixel font that will work in flash by trying it and seeing if it works. IMO that is your best method of finding out, otherwise you can take it into a graphics program zoom in and double check that it falls on exactly pixels, but that seems a bit more tedious and pointless.

Here is a userguide for Fonts For Flash fonts… the same methods go for other pixel fonts too though…

and you can distinguish pixel fonts because they are fonts that only fall on exact pixels (well for flash at least… Photoshop/graphics programs allow you to disable anti-aliasing altogether for text to prevent blurryness with uneven pixels), so if in Flash they get blurry when set as static and follow the rules of pixel font usage… then it obviously isn’t a pixel font

Thanx for the summary of pixel fonts… I like the idea of checking to see if it fits into the grid… this may be tedious but it might explain why some fonts just don’t work.

thanx again…
