Made this logo in Photoshop for a non-profit I work with that does online geography tutorials and expeditions. Props to Robouk’s site for some very helpful tutes.
Me likes. Very crisp looking. I think maybe it might look better if you put some other markers, maybe not E, S, and W, but…some lines of some sort?
and for some reason I find it unsettling that it is crooked…I dont know why though. But, as for the photoshop work, good job. Looks yummyC:-)
I debated adding the E, W, S, but I wanted to keep it nice and lean. Figured having just the N up top would signify “compass.” I like your idea about some lines - maybe a knocked-back compass rose under the needle … ?

hey! now your talking. That might look nice. post it if you do it. I wanna see.
oh looks alot better to me. I can’t tell if that rose is too much or not…hmmm…maybe…thin up the needle? hehe, I don’t know. seems like it would look good. But yea man, I like that alot.
Thank you, Ren, for the call-out. I’d be remiss if I denied I knew of its existence, but I’d been working on a simpler, flatter, line logo for awhile and no one’s been thrilled. Safari’s icon gave me the idea to try a more realist version which has gone over well.
In fact, I didn’t add the compass rose because I noticed the Safari logo looked too busy. Didn’t want it to be a rip off, but, really, how many different ways can you draw a compass?
I don’t at all blame RenaissanceGirl for noting similarities. I think it’s very healthy to have a community that says to its members, “yes, but …” or “did you consider …”
So I thank you both for your guidance and welcome any others!
yeah, its cool when its “contructive feedback” but…just showing you a picture of something that looks a little bit similar? that to me is a silent way of saying “look, you copied” which im sure was her point in the first place. (but i could be wrong!) (an explanation would be nice
