Cheep laptops?

I am thinking of buying my own computer to throw in my room. but i really dont have to much cash laying around. Is there any place where i can purchase a cheep referbished laptop?

soon my parents will start cleaning the computer because im taking up more then half of the memory:bandit:

thanks:bandit:

why not get a cheap refurbished desktop then? You can buy one with better specs for the about the same price of an old laptop =)

just save up

pricewatch.com then buy the cheapest one you see, should be about $100-$200. Not saying it has more than 1 mhz, but hey, its cheap :).

check this out its a desknote not a laptop but i hear its much better than a laptop im planning on buying one myself and its upgradable and customizable and look at all the features it has

build your own… build your own… build your own…

really though, you’ll get twice the action for half the green.

Peace

From what I’ve seen, a desktop PC is actually cheaper than a laptop. You pay extra for the portability. So I’d just go for a normal PC.

Ryall
I’m looking to get a new PC but how can you build your own?

i wouldn’t recommend a laptop for your room. just build parts seperatly for a pc and do that.

you can buy the parts and build a good pc for about $200. the most expensive things are the monitor and cpu (you can get combo packs with those and the motherboards for cheaper).

like nali said, go to www.pricewatch.com. any help you need with building it we can help.

isn’t it hard to build your own though?

im really not sure how to build it :frowning:

just go out and buy a bunch of parts, place tape in strategic positions, shove them in the case, plug in the power supply, and pray.

yea pray that my house doesnt burn down.

Your first $25 could be for a book… they have a few good ones at compUSA… Build&Repair your own Comp or some such…

then go online for all the ?'s that don’t seem to be answered there in the book.
treat it like a science project
…The experience would be way more valuable than the savings on the machine…
a win~win deal

or you could do that. i was gonna pray it worked. but whatever floats your boat. :pirate:

it´s not that hard to build your own pc. but it will not come cheap as $200, it will be a bit more…

█ = read carefully
█ = important stuff
█ = easy part

first you will ned to decide what machine you want to build. Pentium or AMD? Processor speed?

then you get to buy the processor you chosed, and a Mb (motherboard) compatible (nothing on-board!!), ASUS is one of the best manufacturers.

then you get to buy memmory. Look into your Mb´s manual for the right tipe of memmory (dimm, sdram, ddr,…)

chose what video card, sound card, network card, HD, monitor, keyboard, mouse, CPU case, you want to have and put them all together

remember to check on your Mb´s manual before buying anything to see f it is compatible, and to look for the instructions on how to build the machine, if you have any hard time i´m sure there is a lot of tutes on the web, and in the worst case scenario another fellow kirupian will guide you thru the buildind process.

thanks everyone, but do you think it’s worth it to learn how to build computers just to get a cheap deal? how much will i be saving?

It’s worth its’ weight in gold just to have done it even if you barely save any at all

do you reckon?

i found this web site. i heared that the prices are really cheap.
