Company Work + Your Personal Portfolio Help

Sup All //

So a co-worker of mine posted some newly created brand work for a client on his personal design blog. He posted this work before the clients brand went live. First of all that was stupid on his behalf, secondly they somehow got a wind of it and were rightfully pissed. (even threatened to sue him … LOL, not funny, but funny). Thirdly—it’s all fine and dandy now.

However because of this, my boss/company has now asked me to take any work I’ve done for them off of my personal site until they contact our clients to work out “legalities” with us having our work posted.

I understand why I’m having to do this, but also question it. I know the work is owned by the client, however don’t I have personal design copyrights to post the work? Or legally, do I need their permission to even post the work on my personal site?

Just wanted to get all of your input before this goes further.

Thanks all!
